Denali National Park
Alaska, Land of the Midnight Sun. Twice the size of Texas, its landscapes are extreme. It contains the highest mountain in North America, Mt. McKinley as well as 3,000 lakes, 1,800 islands, and 47,000 miles of shoreline.
Denali National Park sits at the top of the world, located 200 miles from the Arctic Circle. There are 28 peaks soaring over two miles high with hundreds of glaciers filling the valleys. Covering more than six million acres, it is larger than the state of Massachusetts. The crown jewel of Denali National Park is Mt. McKinley, the high one, at 20,320 feet. It literally and figuratively towers over south central Alaska from its base in Denali National Park. (National Geographic: Extreme Alaska: Denali National Park)
