Seward
Seward, located in Kenai Peninsula Borough, is unique among most small Alaska communities in that it has road access in the Sterling Highway, which also brings it bus service. Seward is also the southern terminus of the Alaska Railroad. This keeps the lucrative fishery port busy with freight coming on and off the trains, but also makes Seward a primary end point for north-bound cruise ships. Cruise ship passengers get off the boats and take the train farther north to Denali or other Alaskan attractions. Named after William H. Seward, United States Secretary of the State under Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson, Seward boasts of a population over 3,000. (Wikipedia)
Trail River Campground is located in the Chugach National Forest next to Kenai Lake, within an hour of Seward. Great campsite within walking distance of the beautiful Kenai Lake, which demanded three photo sessions.
I just couldn't drive by Lily Pad Lake without stopping for three photo sessions here also as we drove between Seward and the campsite at Trail River Campgrounds. Only disappointment was the absence of moose.
Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Alaska's wildlife through public education. AWCC takes in injured and orphaned animals year-round and provides spacious enclosures and quality animal care. Animals that cannot be released into the wild are given a permanent home at the center. Amateur photographers have the opportunity to take award winning photographs while animals display their natural wild behavior. (Internet)
