The big surprise of day three was the unique visit and tour of an Ostfriesland castle or probably better known as an estate in Groothusen. A direct descendant, the quiet-mannered gentleman guided us through the centuries of the estate as we walked into rooms filled with paintings, memorabilia, and books. It was definitely a step back in time with a knowledgeable family historian whose photo would one day also hang on the walls of the estate. Visiting and photographing the churches in Campen, Loquard, and Rysum filled the rest of the day.
