Day five began in earnest the whirlwind visitation of the jewels of Ostfriesland. The 11th, 12th, and 13th century evangelical and reformed Lutheran churches dot the flat Ostfriesland area like huge beacons on the horizon. The morning in Emdem was fast paced with a walk in the downtown area after visiting the Landesmuseum. In the afternoon the Engerhafe, Marienhafe, Osteel, and Sürhusen Lutheran churches would captivate the attention of every tour participant in one way or another.
