Anticipation heightened as my cousin and I waited outside the Upstallsboom-Gesellschaft in Aurich for Wiesmoor residents, Jürgen and Thea Adams. The day-long visit with our Ostfriesen friends culminated in the Spetzerfehn May Pole celebration that evening. Considering our grandfather emigrated from Spetzerfehn, the previous day’s climb up the Spetzerfehn Windmill and now participating in the Spetzerfehn May Pole festivities were two very special events for my cousin and me. Good memories with wonderful friends.
