Grand Teton National Park
September 24, 2010. From Travel Journal #15: "Somewhere we picked up Wyoming Highway #191 and arrived at the Teton Visitor Center around 3 p.m. So many people and cars, but the bright yellow foliage against the Teton Range was just too good to pass up with the camera. Don waited in the visitor center while I hopped from scene to scene. As we left the visitor center and crossed over the Snake River Bridge, we were caught in a people jam. Anytime there was a people jam, there was probably an animal sighting as well. Sure enough, there were two moose along the shoreline. We just kept on going down the road once we got through the crowd, and most overlooks along the way were over looked.
We entered the Grand Teton National Park at the Moran Entrance Station around 3:30 p.m. Since our route today was longer than anticipated, we decided to spend the night at the Colter Bay Campground. It was either camp here for the night or in the truck somewhere closer to Yellowstone. Most of the campgrounds closed tomorrow for the season, this one included and all but one were closed in Yellowstone already.
The tent set-up ritual began at 4 p.m., and everything was completed by 4:30 p.m. From 6-8 p.m. we walked around Jackson Lake and took photographs of the beautiful sunset over the Teton Range. Campsite #139 at the Colter Bay campground was our 40th campsite in the seventy-nine days we’ve been on the road."
